During the last few days, I’ve been looking at fences. These highly specialized landscape features have various attributes that protect areas from an unwanted visitor, keep precious animals from wandering away, or mark a specific territory.
The old phrase “sitting on the fence” aptly describes someone who has not made up his or her mind about which way to go with respect to a particular decision. So if you’re currently undecided about whether or not to attend the 2007 UOR in Washington, D.C., this summer, I say: Just do it!
And think about it this way: How comfortable would you be sitting on top of a picket fence, barbed wire fence, or one made from rocks? Whew, that’s some uncomfortable mental image.
All joking aside, UOR is an event that is totally worth every penny and every moment of your time. Toss aside every excuse that is keeping you from reserving your place at this all-important annual event.
There is still ample time to get a good airfare, reserve a room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, find a roommate, register for classes, and plan your wardrobe. But if you remain on the fence you could miss a fabulous opportunity to energize your dental hygiene career in ways you never imagined!
